Children and young people

From 2017 until 2025 I worked as senior therapist for a children and young persons service in West Sussex for children, young people and families affected by parental drug and alcohol use.

I am a qualified primary school teacher (PGCE with QTS). My training also includes a Certificate in Children's Accelerated Trauma Technique (CATT) with Trauma Psychology.

I offer client led play and arts-based therapy and counselling for 7-17 year olds and am passionate about offering much needed support to this age group. Working in a client led way, allows a flexible adjustment to my approach with play, arts and talking according to the age, need and preference of the child or young person.

Every child and young person has individual, unique needs, and I aim to provide a supportive and nurturing service, with the therapeutic relationship holding central importance, in creating a safe space where experiences, emotions, trauma and loss can be processed.

I work with children and young people with a wide variety of experiences and reasons for wanting therapeutic support. Counselling can empower children and young people towards growth and improved resilience.

I am a member of the BACP's Children, Young People and Families division and take part in continued professional development.

Fees and sessions:

If you are a parent looking for therapy for your child, please contact me via email or a phone voice message. I offer a free 15-minute phone call for parents. This gives us space to talk about your child’s needs and explore whether working together feels like a good fit.

Once a start date is arranged, we can speak on the phone or via video call (about 20 minutes) as an initial assessment ahead of meeting your child for the first time.

You can join your child at the beginning of our first time together, so they can meet me with you. They can then decide for themselves after that first session if they would like to continue with further weekly appointments.

Sessions last 50 minutes and cost £70. I reserve a small number of reduced-fee sessions for people who may not otherwise be able to access counselling due to financial constraints. These spaces are limited and may not always be available, but I encourage you to reach out if cost is a barrier.

I offer regular weekly appointments at the same time each week.

There are options to work in a time limited way, such as up to12 sessions or in an open-ended way over a longer period of time.

I work from my garden counselling room in Lewes, East Sussex.

If your child is at school in Lewes, I may also able to see them within the school day at their school if that is appropriate and a preferred option.

I also accept referrals through Bupa Health Insurance.
