Adults

There are many and varied reasons why people seek counselling. All of us can face confusing and difficult times in our lives and feel overwhelmed with feelings such as anxiety, stress and depression. At these times, we may feel we need to reach out for some support. It could be that you can identify specific issues, or maybe you can't and it's more a sense that you feel stuck or have lost your way in life.

Counselling offers a confidential, non-judgemental, safe place for you to be heard, explore your situation and find a new perspective. It may be that you are not finding these conversations easy in your daily life, in your relationships with family and friends. The act of talking and putting things into words within a safe counselling relationship can allow space to reflect and support a deeper connection to yourself and others. This can lead to a new way of seeing yourself and your life, allow you to make different choices and find new ways forward.

I practice from a humanistic psychotherapeutic perspective grounded in the acknowledgement that we each have our own unique experiences in life. â€‹Each of us has an innate ability to heal and grow, and during counselling I can be alongside you encouraging you to trust in your own capacity and discover your own inner resources.

I offer the following types of counselling:

  • In person counselling from my garden counselling room in Lewes, East Sussex

  • walk and talk counselling in the Lewes, East Sussex area

  • Video and phone counselling within the UK

Walk and talk counselling:

Walking-talking counselling in Lewes

Walk and talk counselling can be helpful for people who find the conventional therapy setting awkward and uncomfortable, as well as those who generally find it easier to talk when moving. For some, walking side by side can allow thoughts and feelings to flow and be processed more easily. The rhythmic act of walking and being in nature can have far reaching beneficial and healing effects.

I recently completed the Circle of Life Rediscovery training in Nature Based Practice for professionals to take their practice outdoors.

Fees and sessions:

All adult counselling sessions last one hour and cost £65.

I reserve a small number of reduced-fee sessions for people who may not otherwise be able to access counselling due to financial constraints. These spaces are limited and may not always be available, but I encourage you to reach out if cost is a barrier.

I offer a free 15-minute phone call to help you ask any questions and see if working together feels like a good fit.

I offer regular weekly appointments at the same time each week. I can work with you in a shorter time limited way such as for 6 weeks, or for open-ended longer-term work.

I also accept referrals through Bupa Health Insurance, Vitality Health Insurance and the Vita Health Group.
